ATTENTION FLORIDA LICENSED DRIVERS - NEW 14 DAY LAW

Last year Governor Rick Scott passed a law that only gives you 14 days to seek medical attention after you have been injured in a Miami car accident. If you do not seek initial care, you will lose all coverage of benefits that you pay for every month.

I repeat, beginning January 1, 2013, you must seek medical attention within 14 days after a Miami car accident, or any other county car accident in Florida for that matter. If you do not, you will not be entitled to your personal injury protection (PIP) at all!

What this means is if you have any type of injury, big or small, you should always get it checked out by a licensed healthcare practitioner. Because you never know if a small injury will turn into a big one. I have seen this happen first hand. Growing up, my mother and I were injured in a Miami car accident. We were in a parking lot and she wasn't even going fast. A car backed out of a parking spot and hit us. Her initial reaction was, "that we were not going fast, so she should feel okay." That was the case until a couple days passed. She began experiencing all types of symptoms and pain. To make a long story short, she needed to have neck surgery to remove 3 intervertebral discs. This was all from a "minor" Miami car accident. If this crude law was in effect back then, there was a chance that my mother would not have been covered.

The point of this Miami Car Accident Clinic blog is to inform the public of this new law. If you are injured, you must seek medical attention immediately or within 14 days following the accident. Call the Miami Car Accident Clinic if you have any questions regarding this new law. You pay for your PIP coverage, and we are here to make sure you receive it when you need it.

MIAMI CAR ACCIDENT - WHIPLASH EFFECTS

This blog is intended to educate the people of Miami, FL about the manifestations, symptoms, and signs of the Whiplash Effect following a Miami car accident. Whiplash is one of the most common types injuries sustained from a car accident. The head goes through a sudden acceleration-deceleration motion, which puts a great amount of stress on the neck and upper back anatomy. Muscles, tendons, and ligaments all are effected and can become inflamed and damaged. In Miami-Dade county alone, there are approximately 120 Miami car accidents every single day. Unfortunately, that's a lot of whiplash.

A study by Bismil and Bismil reported, out of 1025 people who experienced whiplash, that the most common symptoms are neck pain, reduced cervical range of motion, and myofascial-entheseal dysfunction. Myofascial-entheseal dysfunction are trigger points in the muscle, tendons, or ligaments, which cause pain and restrict normal movement. This dysfunction has proven effective by the utilization of Trigger Point Therapy. This therapy is common practice at the Miami Car Accident Clinic, as it gets excellent results in patients suffering from whiplash symptoms.

Other common symptoms of whiplash include:
