ULTRASOUND THERAPY HELPS WITH MIAMI CAR ACCIDENT INJURIES

Ultrasound therapy is not a new therapy. In fact, initial ultrasound therapy dates all the way back to the 1940s. Now that's a proven modality if you ask me. I see a lot of patients who were injured in various Miami personal injury type situations. Whether they were injured from a Miami car accident, or a Miami slip and fall accident, or even a Miami workers' comp accident, all injuries can benefit from ultrasound therapy. This therapy really works.

In fact, it works so well, my Miami accident patients are in disbelief. The first thing they say is, "I do not feel anything." This is what surprises them the most. Ultrasound therapy is gentle, yet effective. The instrument send tiny sound waves into the cells of the tissue.

There are three immediate responses by the tissue:

  1. It speeds up the healing time by increasing blood flow to the treated area.
  2. It decreases pain by reducing inflammation and edema.
  3. It provides a gentle massing action into the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the treated area.
These three responses get fantastic results for my Miami car accident patients, Miami bus accident patients, Miami workers comp patients, and my Miami slip and fall patients. And when I couple this therapy with other effective therapies such as electro-stim, chiropractic adjustments, trigger point therapy, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, the results are compounded.

So if you have been injured  in a Miami car accident, call the Miami Car Accident Clinic today for a free consultation. You may be entitled to medical benefits up to $10,000. 305-834-7900

MIAMI ACCIDENT CLINIC - SEAT BELT SAFETY

Seat belts are the most effective safety measurement in cars and trucks. They prevent thousands of serious Miami car accident injuries every year in Miami-Dade county. They reduce the chance of a Miami car accident injury by nearly 50%. Below are some fast facts, reported by the CDC website, of the usage of seat belts in this country:

SEAT BELT FAST FACTS:
  • Seat belts saved more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008.
  • Forty-two percent of passenger vehicle occupants killed in 2007 were unbelted. A 2009 NHTSA study estimates more than 1,600 lives could be saved and 22,000 injuries prevented if seat belt use was 90 percent in every state.
  • Adults age 18-34 are less likely to wear seat belts than adults 35 or older.
  • Men are 10% less likely to wear seat belts than women.
  • Seat belt use is lower in states with secondary enforcement seat belt laws or no seat belt laws (79%) compared to states with primary enforcement laws (88%).
Miami-Dade Citation Notice: Seat belt ticket will cost you approximately $129 plus fees. Points on your license may also be applicable. The Miami Car Accident Clinic says "BUCKLE UP."

The bottom line is that seat belts save lives, so you have nothing to lose (except your life)! The Miami Car Accident Clinic effectively treats Miami car accident injuries, Miami slip and fall patients, Miami workers' comp accidents. Call the Miami car accident doctors now for a free consultation.

ATTENTION FLORIDA LICENSED DRIVERS - NEW 14 DAY LAW

Last year Governor Rick Scott passed a law that only gives you 14 days to seek medical attention after you have been injured in a Miami car accident. If you do not seek initial care, you will lose all coverage of benefits that you pay for every month.

I repeat, beginning January 1, 2013, you must seek medical attention within 14 days after a Miami car accident, or any other county car accident in Florida for that matter. If you do not, you will not be entitled to your personal injury protection (PIP) at all!

What this means is if you have any type of injury, big or small, you should always get it checked out by a licensed healthcare practitioner. Because you never know if a small injury will turn into a big one. I have seen this happen first hand. Growing up, my mother and I were injured in a Miami car accident. We were in a parking lot and she wasn't even going fast. A car backed out of a parking spot and hit us. Her initial reaction was, "that we were not going fast, so she should feel okay." That was the case until a couple days passed. She began experiencing all types of symptoms and pain. To make a long story short, she needed to have neck surgery to remove 3 intervertebral discs. This was all from a "minor" Miami car accident. If this crude law was in effect back then, there was a chance that my mother would not have been covered.

The point of this Miami Car Accident Clinic blog is to inform the public of this new law. If you are injured, you must seek medical attention immediately or within 14 days following the accident. Call the Miami Car Accident Clinic if you have any questions regarding this new law. You pay for your PIP coverage, and we are here to make sure you receive it when you need it.

If you or someone you know has been injured in any of the following Miami personal injury type accidents, call the Personal Injury Doctors at (305) 834-7900 for a free consultation.

MIAMI CAR ACCIDENT - WHIPLASH EFFECTS

This blog is intended to educate the people of Miami, FL about the manifestations, symptoms, and signs of the Whiplash Effect following a Miami car accident. Whiplash is one of the most common types injuries sustained from a car accident. The head goes through a sudden acceleration-deceleration motion, which puts a great amount of stress on the neck and upper back anatomy. Muscles, tendons, and ligaments all are effected and can become inflamed and damaged. In Miami-Dade county alone, there are approximately 120 Miami car accidents every single day. Unfortunately, that's a lot of whiplash.

A study by Bismil and Bismil reported, out of 1025 people who experienced whiplash, that the most common symptoms are neck pain, reduced cervical range of motion, and myofascial-entheseal dysfunction. Myofascial-entheseal dysfunction are trigger points in the muscle, tendons, or ligaments, which cause pain and restrict normal movement. This dysfunction has proven effective by the utilization of Trigger Point Therapy. This therapy is common practice at the Miami Car Accident Clinic, as it gets excellent results in patients suffering from whiplash symptoms.

Other common symptoms of whiplash include:

New Florida PIP Laws

Last year, Governor Rick Scott passed a law that would forever change the PIP laws in Florida. The new laws were effective January 1, 2013. Unfortunately, this is not a good thing for licensed Florida drivers. The laws' main objective was to lower monthly premiums for drivers in Florida. It has now been 7 months, and I have not heard one person say their monthly insurance premium went down. In fact, I hear the opposite! Maybe it's because it has only been 7 months, you say. Well personally speaking, I am not buying it. Below is a list of the new laws put into effect this year:

  • If you are injured in a Miami car accident, you have 14 days to seek initial treatment for your injuries. This means if you seek treatment after 14 days, you will not be covered under your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage that you pay for.
  • Massage and acupucture are not covered anymore.
  • If you do seek treatment, you are only entitled to 25% of your PIP coverage. This means you can only get $2,500 of treatment for your injuries. But if you have a Emergency Medical Condition (EMC), only then are you allocated your full $10,000 in PIP coverage. See below for the state's definition of EMC. Keep in mind, you pay for $10,000 in coverage every month, either way.
  • Only licensed medical doctors, osteopaths, dentists, physician assistants, or advanced registered nurse practitioners can determine if you have a Emergency Medical Condition.
Emergency Medical Condition: a medical condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity, which may include severe pain, such that the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in:

-serious jeopardy to patient health, and/or
-serious impairment to bodily functions, and/or
-serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part
